DESIGNATION: D.O.C. FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
ITS DEEP BLUE-BLACK BERRIES AND GENTLY HERBACEOUS CHARACTER DEFINE THE IDENTITY OF THIS WINE. RUBY RED IN COLOR WITH GARNET REFLECTIONS, IT REVEALS A BOLD AROMATIC PROFILE, WITH NOTES OF STEWED PLUM, BAY LEAF, CHOCOLATE, AND FOREST FLOOR. ON THE PALATE, IT IS SAVORY, STRUCTURED, AND LONG-LASTING.

100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, an indigenous grape variety.
Vines are trained using the double inverted and Guyot systems, with an average planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare.
PRODUCTION AREA
Estate-grown at La Viarte in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, within the municipality of Prepotto. The 24-hectare single-body hillside vineyard lies at approximately 150–200 meters above sea level, with eastern and south-eastern exposure. Soils are of Eocene origin, locally known as “Ponca,” composed of layered marl and sandstone.
WINEMAKING
Hand-harvested with careful grape selection. Soft pressing is followed by a 15-day maceration on the skins. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 25–28°C, with frequent pump-overs. The wine is aged for 24–30 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux, followed by a minimum of 48 months of bottle aging prior to release.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS
Deep ruby red with garnet hues. On the nose, intense and expressive, with notes of stewed plum, bay leaf, chocolate, and undergrowth.
On the palate, rich, savory, and persistent, with excellent structure and depth.
SERVING TEMPERATURE
Serve at 18°C in a large wine glass.
PAIRING
Ideal with cured meats, pasta dishes, red meats, and aged cheeses.
