DESIGNATION: D.O.C. FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
ITS CRADLE IS THE VALLE DELLO JUDRIO. BUT IT'S ONLY THROUGH THE INTERACTION WITH THE MICROCLIMATE OF OUR HILL THAT WE'VE MADE THIS WINE UNMISTAKABLE. WITH A RUBY-RED COLOR AND ELEGANT BALANCE, IT EXPRESSES SPICY NOTES OF PINK PEPPER. IT'S A FRESH WINE WITH A BOLD CHARACTER, HINTING AT WILD BLACKBERRY, RASPBERRY, AND BLUEBERRY.
GRAPES
Schioppettino – autochthonous. The vineyards are trained using the double overturned and Guyot training systems, with an average planting density of 4,000 vines per hectare.
PRODUCTION AREA
Located at the La Viarte estate in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in the municipality of Prepotto. The vineyard covers 24 hectares of contiguous hillside at an altitude of approximately 150–200 meters above sea level, with East and South-East exposure. The soils, of Eocene origin and locally known as Ponca, are composed of alternating layers of marl and sandstone.
WINEMAKING
Harvesting is done manually with a careful selection of the grape bunches. This is followed by gentle pressing and maceration on the skins for about 7 days. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 25°C and 28°C, with frequent pump-overs. The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by a further 6 months of bottle aging before release.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS
Ruby red in color, the nose reveals fresh fruity aromas of cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate, well-integrated with spicy notes of pepper. On the palate, it is soft and balanced, with good freshness and medium body. The finish is pleasantly long, leaving fruity red berry notes.
SERVING TEMPERATURE
Serve at 16°C in a large glass.
PAIRING
Cured meats, first course, red meat, cheese.
